Course details

Lost-wax casting is one of the oldest and most versatile techniques for creating jewelry, passed down from ancient times to the present day. An object is created with a soft, easy-to-work material like wax, and is then replicated in metal through a casting process. The wax is melted away—hence "lost"—leaving space for molten metal to fill the mold and take its shape. "Soft wax" refers to a type of wax that can be worked directly by hand or with small tools. Similar to clay, it is highly versatile and easy to model. During the workshop, each participant will explore various types and forms of soft wax (blocks, sheets, wires), creating volumes, designs, textures, and connections using simple tools and the heat of a small candle. The possibilities are endless, and the process requires no precision or prior skills—anyone can enjoy it and craft something beautiful and unique! At the end of the workshop, participants will choose one of their creations to be cast into metal and select the material (silver, brass, or bronze) for their final piece.
