Officine Nora is an idea that I started developing as soon as I left the jewelry school.
I wanted to keep the habit of comparing techniques and visions and exchanging ideas with other artists, with different eyes and sensibilities. I wanted to make the most of every possibility offered by the field I had chosen, creating a space in which to make my pieces, sell them, share what I had learned, carry on my research and continue to learn from the people around me.
Florence, my hometown, is the perfect place for this, its creative spirit and wealth of craftsmanship are still alive and, fortunately, continue to attract a healthy, vibrant and interested international community. Here I found and renovated an old precision mechanics workshop, located in the artisans' district and fortunately escaped from becoming another restaurant.
The name Officine Nora recalls the officina it once was, but is used in its plural form to suggest the fact that several independent entities operate in the same place. Nora is part of my surname, but it could also function as an acronym for "Nuovi ORAfi" to emphasize the attitude of openness and sharing that characterizes those who work in a coworking space, something very new for the jewelry field!
O.N. since 2014 it is an open and international environment, a place to create, learn, test products and ideas. I am convinced that dealing with different points of view and experiences helps to grow, to discover one's own voice and find one's own path.
